WASHINGTON – United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) today released the following statement on reports that the Biden Administration will freeze arms sales to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates:
“Reports today that the Biden Administration will freeze arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates send exactly the wrong message and come just days after an attack on Riyadh. This decision harms our credibility as a strategic partner and creates doubt among our Middle Eastern allies that the United States will reliably help them protect themselves against existential threats, especially from Iran and its proxies. At a time when it is imperative that we enforce an arms embargo on the Iranian regime, the administration is also signaling to Tehran that the United States is not committed to stopping their aggression against their neighbors. The administration should reverse this decision immediately.”
