NASHVILLE, TN—United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) today held a virtual meeting as part of the February State Work Week with leadership from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Y-12 to provide an update on his committee assignments and to hear about the needs of these two East Tennessee sites.
“While I wish I could have been in Oak Ridge in person today, I’m grateful for the update and the incredible work being done at our national lab and Y-12 security complex,” Senator Hagerty said. “The people of Tennessee are on the front lines of research and development for our national defense and security now more than ever. As a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, I will work hard to ensure the interests of Oak Ridge and Y-12 continue to be represented to ensure Tennessee remains a leader in keeping America safe.”
In addition to Hagerty, others participating in the meeting included: East Tennessee Economic Council President Jim Campbell, Oak Ridge National Laboratory CEO and Lab Director Thomas Zacharia, UCOR President Ken Reuter, Oak Ridge Associated Universities’ President Andy Page, and Consolidated Nuclear Securities COO Bill Tindal.
The meeting was scheduled to take place in person, but due to winter weather in middle Tennessee it was moved to a virtual event.
