WASHINGTON—United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) today voted in favor of Tom Vilsack to be the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture.
“Having served as Secretary of Agriculture for eight years under a previous administration as well as Governor of Iowa, there is no doubt that Tom Vilsack is qualified and understands the needs of our farmers, ranchers, and producers,” Senator Hagerty said. “While there will be policy disagreements, Secretary Vilsack has broad support across the agriculture community, including the Tennessee Farm Bureau, and has committed to working with the U.S. Trade Representative to help create more partnerships in foreign markets, which will serve the interests of farmers across my state for generations to come.”
