WASHINGTON – United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), a member of the Senate Rules & Administration Committee, today offered an amendment during the committee’s markup of the Democrats’ “For the Politicians Act”, to strike the redistricting provisions of the bill likely to lead to a federal court in Washington, D.C. redrawing every congressional district in the United States.

“This bill sets up a complex process that removes from the elected representatives of the states the drawing of congressional districts in their states, which they have done for the entire history of this country. My amendment would strike this portion of the bill and keep democratically elected state representatives in charge of our election rules,” Senator Hagerty said.
