WASHINGTON – United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), a member of the Senate Rules & Administration Committee, today offered an amendment during the committee’s markup of the Democrats’ “For the Politicians Act”, to strike the language requiring the counting of ballots received for a week after Election Day.

“If this provision became law, every election would be susceptible to late-stage fraud by sending the ballot harvesters out after Election Day to gather just enough votes to put their candidate over the top, and as long as the ballots are dated on Election Day, they must be counted. My amendment would prevent this absurd, corrupt possibility that would eviscerate voter confidence in our elections,” Senator Hagerty said.
