WASHINGTON—United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), a member of the Senate Rules Committee, today released the following statement after voting no once again on Senate Democrats’ latest attempt to seize control of state elections:
“The Senate has already rejected this partisan power grab several times, yet Democrats keep bringing it up. It’s like a scene from the comedy Groundhog Day. While Democrats will say this is a compromise version today, it’s only a compromise between the Left and the Far Left regarding how much power to grab. It still outlaws state voter ID laws and requires taxpayer funding of political campaigns. It’s still the same old politician-protection measure I’ve been fighting since I got here. Tennesseans don’t want it, and I will continue to oppose it.”
