NASHVILLE, TN—United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), a member of the Senate Banking Committee, today released the following statement in the wake of allegations of a toxic work culture at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC):
“I am deeply disturbed by the reports that came out this week about the FDIC’s culture of harassment and abuse, which has been tolerated by the agency’s leadership for decades. This should not be a partisan issue, as these reports not only unearth inexcusable treatment of employees, but also undermine the public’s faith in our financial regulators. The Senate should not play a passive role in reviewing what occurred, and I urge Chairman Brown to conduct an investigation on behalf of all members of the Senate Banking Committee.”
